Building an Outboard Trawler - Sept 9, '22 -

Writer's picture: Gord and DonnaGord and Donna

Finishing the interior is a real slow process but things are moving along quite well. Here's the starboard side grab handle bulkhead all trimmed out.

And this is the view from the forward side. That's plenty good enough for me.

We painted two coats of urethane on the trim that we installed last week.

Donna attacked the remaining unpainted area in the forward cabin.

Two coats.

It was the last area of the boat that needed to be painted and we're happy that's all done. Soon we will be able to apply the textured finish for the walls and bulkheads. Can't wait!

She actually finished the second coat yesterday at the island. It was an absolutely beautiful day and I couldn't resist taking the boat out.

. . . . .

Last night we played at the 'open mic' thing. Dave and Neil joined us again. For our first set, we did:

  • Runaway (Del Shannon)

  • Walk Away Renee (The Left Banke)

  • White Rabbit (Jefferson Airplane)

The first two songs were a bit rough but White Rabbit went really well.

Because we were first up, there was enough time at the end of the evening for us to be asked up to do a second set of two songs. We were well prepared and we did:

  • I Don't Want to Talk About it (Rod Stewart)

  • Hotel California (The Eagles)

These two songs went extremely well and, when Dave was into the ending guitar lead solo on Hotel California, the whole crowd cheered. It was a great night.

How lucky we are!

Thanks for reading our blog.
