Building an Outboard Trawler - Side Decks

Writer's picture: Gord and DonnaGord and Donna

You Guessed it! Another stifling hot and humid day. We had to wrap up the work at noon or risk being roasted alive.

Even though it was a short day, we made good progress on the side decks. The carlins were well set in solidly-cured epoxy and we were able to remove two blocks (one each side) with no apparent movement of the carlins.

In those areas now liberated of cement blocks, we notched the carlins and sheer strake to accept side beams.

We have more work to do on the notches and side beams but, with one good day's work, we could likely have all six installed.
