Building an Outboard Trawler - Update -

Writer's picture: Gord and DonnaGord and Donna

Just back from a week's visit with Mom. It was a great week. We solved most of the world's problems and I think we shared a bit more than our average amount of laughter.

Mom got a new stove and is quite happy with it. We ate her food and drank her wine. We got a few things done around the house and also got to spend a bit of time with Donna (sister), Mike and Noreen, and Gerry and Dorothy. There's nothing quite like family time.

After what seems to have been a small stroke, Mom has some numbness in her right side, including her right foot, that is not improving. She feels it's time to give up driving and has done so. She gave me her car (2007 Camry).

Boat Thoughts:

Using both Photoshop and MS Paint, I fiddled around with an old photo of the boat and drew in a mast, boom and stays (excuse the funky sky).

If it works out, we'll have a relatively short mast and a boom that reaches over the motorwell. To hold it all up, I think a forestay and two aft shrouds should suffice.
