Building an Outboard Trawler - Windows -

Unhappy News (Possibly)

This morning, shortly after we arrived, Robert advised us that it was very likely he would be obliged to shut the boatyard tomorrow and that it would probably stay closed for a month. We are to confirm this tomorrow morning by phone. Oh well. . . ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Pilothouse Roof Handrails

We re-evaluated our plans for the day and got to work. I drilled more holes in the boat. We decided on the size and position of the handrails and we cut the tubing. Then we 'dry-fit' them onto the pilothouse.

Windows

I know. . . . in a boat, non-opening windows are called portlights or deadlights. But I'm calling them windows today. So there.

Anyway, this afternoon, we dry fit the three front windows. We were both worried about the starboard side because that plywood panel is somewhat 'twisted' and the window does not lie flat against it. When we got it in though, the (tempered glass) window and frame 'twisted' easily into place. Weird, but there you are.

Now that's a 'commercial' aesthetic. . . . . .it looks like a locomotive :)
