Dinghy Work - March 22nd, '23
Happy Birthday Eva!
Yesterday was so beautiful here! We got to +6C with a little breeze.
I checked on the boat and the tarps are still holding. The snow is disappearing fast and half the harbour is ice-free.
Boat Work
Donna and I fetched the dinghy from the shed. I 'scrubbied' the whole exterior with water (drying it with paper towels) to remove the amine blush from the epoxy. Then I did some sanding.
I washed it down with mineral spirits and rolled on a coat of oil-based primer.
Later in the afternoon, we tucked it into the shed again to await the next nice day.
Actually, today is supposed to be even nicer than yesterday but we'll be busy practicing music with Neil this afternoon in preparation for tomorrow's 'Open Mic'.
As you can see, the tape lines are visible. It will be obvious that it's a home-made dinghy and that's okay with me. It's okay with Donna too. She says: "Nobody will steal it".
More sanding would expose the fiberglass tape. Adding more filler would make it heavier.
Also, making it 'perfect' would take a lot more work than it's worth.
Thanks for reading our blog!
