Our Outboard Trawler Story
June 2, 2023
Happy Anniversary to us!
I have a lingering Covid cough but I'm much better. I didn't feel up to attending 'Open Mic' last night but I am a little stronger every day.
Heard some sad news that our friend Sandy Hay is in hospital, apparently his cancer has returned. Hope he's doing okay.
Boat Work:
We are still under the influence of a massive high pressure area and enjoying the clear and warm weather. We have been walking to and from the boat and working on the window trim. I 'dry-fit' most of the trim pieces a couple of days ago. The following photos show the main cabin (starboard side) window trim. All the other windows will be similar.
You can see the brass screw heads but they will be hidden with wood plugs eventually.
Since these photos were taken, Donna has sanded off all the saw marks.
The notches for the window bolts will remain (of course) but that's just the way it is. The 'thinness' of the trim pieces reflect the fact that they are all 'sliced' from the last pieces of that big old mahogany table top.
Once the pieces are glued on and all the screw holes plugged, it will be time to varnish them. After that, the walls can be painted with Donna's special textured finish.
Yesterday was especially nice and we took Helen Back out for a run upriver through the narrows and back. We stopped at Smith's Island for a little break and met Keith and Catherine there.
I forgot to take any photos out there but here's one just after we got back. Nice day, huh?
Thanks for reading our blog!
