Launch Date Set!

We are scheduled to launch on May 10th at 1:00pm.

Needless to say we will be re-arranging our work schedule to ensure the 'necessities' are completed before launch.

Boat Work:

Things are going well. I worked on the head cabinet Friday and it's coming along. We got the lower shelf in.

We glued and screwed the upper cabinet side in place. . .

We attached the upper cabinet framing.

And we got the higher shelf 'dry-fit'.

Donna got a photo of our 'neighbour family' mother in her nest. I think she's as grateful as we are to be in the shelter.

Saturday was a work day at the yacht club's island location. I was in charge of the fire and we burnt leaves and branches all day. Had to wash the fire smell out of my clothes as soon as we got home. Others worked on the docks, the grounds, the kitchen and the rest room.

Yesterday (Sunday) the weather was great and we were back at the boat. With Donna mixing up the goop, we glassed the cabinet side walls to the hull. This cabinet will be 'structural'.

I also drilled a couple of 3-inch holes in the boat. They will be the entry point of fresh air from the dorade vents.

Donna painted another coat onto the exterior walls of the head. It's really starting to look good.

Today I spent the whole morning on a job that was supposed to take an hour. The two horizontal bunk supports are made from white oak. I laid the ends in cut-outs in the side rails and attached them with pocket screws and construction adhesive. Meanwhile Donna scrubbied and sanded the head cabinet walls ready for paint.

We worked together again to attach the dorade boxes. This involved sanding the deck 'attachment' areas, gluing them down with epoxy bonding putty and spreading a 'fillet' of sandable putty along the bottoms. This fillet will help the fiberglass curve from the horizontal deck to the vertical box sides.

Looking good!

Goodnight Donna!
