Outboard Trawler Build - Feb 6, 2023
Dinghy Work:
Mike and Noreen left early this morning and got home before noon.
It was nice weather so we backed the car out of the garage and set the dinghy upside-down on the saw horses.
I did a bit more rough sanding of the seams, then vacuumed the outside of the boat.
I set up a couple of electric space heaters in the garage. We wet all the seams with clear epoxy and puttied where we found any gaps, gouges or knot holes.
Then we wet 2" each side of the seams and lay the fiberglass tape on them. We then added more clear epoxy to saturate the glass.
Finally, after lunch, Donna mixed batches of thin putty while I spread the goop over the tape. This will allow us to sand the joints without cutting through the tape.
Another big step completed. Now we'll give it a day or two to cure.
Visit and Music
Mike and Noreen were here visiting for a few days and we got a chance to go through all the songs for the March 11th performance. One day, Neil joined us as well.
With less than 5 weeks to go, I had better get working on those songs if I want to do them all from memory.
Please Note:
We love that WIX has been hosting this blog for free. Over the years, we have published thousands of photos here. We began this site with the building of the shed when we first purchased the land back in 2014. We then published almost daily when we were building the house.
We published lots of photos of the ChrisCraft cruiser. Then we started the trawler build and posted updates quite often. Now we're continuing with the dinghy.
We have been warned by WIX that we have exceeded our allotted storage space on the site and, around the end of February, we will be barred from posting any more.
To clear some space, I removed a lot of old posts. It didn't help much. Now I will be removing a lot of old photos from the site as well. I'm not 100% sure that they won't bar us even if we drop below our allotted storage space.
So, if things start to look a little different on this site, you will know why.
Thanks for reading our blog!
