Outboard Trawler Build - May 6th, 2022 -

Writer's picture: Gord and DonnaGord and Donna

Flashbacks:

May 1992: We set out on a cross-Canada motorhome trip; Mom, Dad, Michael (4yrs old) Donna, me and our dog 'Captain'.

May 2003: We bought 'Shanty', our Challenger 7.6 sailboat and sailed her for six years out of Ile Perrot Yacht Club.

May 2012: Wayne and I set out across the Atlantic Ocean aboard Long Reach, our Alberg 29 sailboat.

Boat Work:

We've been busy preparing for launch next week.

The dorade boxes are all done. Tomorrow we put the vents on.

I finished the connection of the bow thruster control.

I've been working on finishing the dash. . . .

. . . . and getting it varnished.

That mahogany is so nice!

As part of the bow thruster installation, we put in a dedicated battery switch.

Donna's been doing lots of painting. The solar panel mounting rails. . .

. . . the plywood edge of the door opening (to which we first applied an epoxy putty). . . .

. . . . . and the interior mahogany trim.

I installed the VHF antenna and the cable 'pass through' on the aft wall of the wheelhouse.

And yes, I gained another year of life experience yesterday.

How lucky I am!
