Outboard Trawler Build - She's Home! -

May 15th, 2022:

I know, it's old news. But it's such great news!

Here she is, sparkling in the morning sun on Saturday in slip #57.

Rain was forecast for last night so I wanted to waterproof the cabin door. So far, the boat has only seen one light rain shower and we're nervous about how her windows, hatch and door will manage a heavy rain.

Our exterior cabin door began life as an interior boat door so we are doing our best to seal all the wood joints. We removed it from the boat and taped plastic over the doorway. We brought it home and worked on it in the garage. We carved a 'V' in the frame joints and used black 'Sikaflex' to seal them. When it was tack free, we brought the door back and reinstalled it on the boat. It worked like a charm. The boat stayed dry and the door looks fine.

The harbourmaster told us that he changed our slip. This morning we moved her to slip #29 and we later got confirmation that this will be our permanent slip. The photo below was taken from the boat in our new location. As you can see, it has easy access to the harbour entrance.

Yes, that's fog over the water. In the next photo, you can see a freighter as she moves upriver with her bridge and crane tops above the fog. What a beautiful morning!

Below, we're looking past the stern of Jim and Donna's boat into the foggy river.

Here are a few 'extra' photos that Ron took on Thursday at St. Lawrence Marina when we arrived there in our precious little trawler.

Ah she's beautiful. . . . .and the boat's not bad either.

Thanks again Ron!

And thank you for reading our blog!
