Outboard Trawler: News From Here
How lucky we are! Donna (sister) and Lou took a trip to the Maritimes and dropped Mom off with us. It was wonderful to have her here and the 16 days flew by. We ate, we drank, we laughed and we cried (it was one of those 'Highway to Heaven' tear-jerkers). Mom's short-term memory gives her a bit of trouble but her recollection of the old days is amazing.
Twice we enjoyed breakfast at the Bridgeview Restaurant in Johnstown.
The folks picked her up yesterday and we were sad to see her go (we joked about hiding her in the basement when they showed up).

Family Visit
Donna's cousin (Karen) and her husband (Phil) and friend (Tom) came for a lunch visit last week. We all sat and played music (Karen plays ukulele beautifully and seems to sing harmony naturally).
Karen taped this short clip:

Showing Off the Boat:
Bryne's been following our blog since we started building the boat and we got to show him the 'almost' finished project.
I also walked down with a neighbour (Lisa) and showed it to her. She and her husband (Brad) build a skiff in their driveway and they showed it to us a couple of weeks ago.
Boat Work:
We're back at it.
I'm working on a couple of anti-roll stabilizers to use on our trip (when we are at anchor). I melted some scrap lead and made 2 'hockey puck' weights. The stabilizers are hung over the side amidships, about 5' down. The weights keep them down and a rope bridle hangs them level. When the boat rolls, the surface area of the plywood offers some resistance.

I picked up a wood utensil tray and added a layer of polyurethane. We plan to install it tomorrow.

While Mom was here, I built a couple of cup holders with marine plywood for the top and bottom and a piece of mahogany for the post.
I used dowel pins and construction adhesive. Check out the clamping rig!
I think they turned out fine.
Thanks for reading our blog!
