Boat Work:
Donna continues work on the interior 'textured' wall paint and varnish on the woodwork.
Here she's standing on a stool atop the entryway step to reach the aft window in the pilothouse.
Removal of the tape (after a fine job of painting the port side wall of the pilothouse) must be done without delay. The textured product (KiwiGrip) skins over really quickly.
The forward wall looks great too!
After working out the floor hatch and locker arrangement at the helm station a few days ago, I finally fiberglassed the starboard side of the pilothouse sole to the hull.
I used epoxy and covered it with a thickened mixture to enable sanding and painting later.
With a tube of white 'Sikaflex, I sealed the joints where the sole meets the bulkheads, fore and aft. Now, we can finish the cabin sole in the pilothouse. Yay!
Donna is crocheting small stowage hammocks. She did some research online and made her own plan.
She finished the first one yesterday and we're already using it.
You may have also noticed a manual pump / faucet at the galley sink. It's installed, but not functional yet.
A couple of years ago, we picked up some small drawers at a boat recycling place near Toronto. If my measurements are correct, one of them will just fit the sink cabinet in the head. Stay tuned. . . .
After some discussion, we decided to put the 'tank-fill' deck fitting inside the boat and I worked on it yesterday. This is specifically to fill the small fresh water tank that will be used to flush the toilet. We have another tank that will supply the two sink faucets and it's 'fill' fitting is on the port side-deck..
Today we took the boat out for a little run over to Smith's Island and I did a bit of work on the plumbing, running hoses under the cabin sole to supply the three fixtures; galley sink, head sink and toilet.
The two sinks will have manual pumps and the toilet will function with an onboard water pressure system.
Good progress on our beloved little boat, I'd say.
