Boat Work

Yesterday was another banner day! Donna finished up the painting of the cabin sole (floor) in the head. First the oil-based primer. . . .

. . . . . then the non-slip strips.

With that, all the floors (cabin soles) are now finished!

Today was a great day too! Mike and Noreen are here and they came out for a short cruise with me aboard Helen Back.

After that, Mike gave me a hand to put the dinghy onto the roof of the Camry and we drove it down to the club.

We built the little boat over the winter and I've been itching to get it into the water and try it out.

Great news! It floats really nice and it tracks well when rowing.

Mike got in with me and we rowed out the creek to the river and back. Together we weigh 340 lbs. The little boat had no trouble supporting us and it rowed even better with two aboard.

The next photo is a snapshot from a video that Mike took while we were both in the boat.

We got the dinghy back onto the roof of the car in time to meet Donna and Noreen at the club for lunch.

What a morning! We're so lucky.

Thanks for reading our blog!
