Outboard Trawler Update - June 13th, 2022.

Writer's picture: Gord and DonnaGord and Donna

We took a drive out to Oakville to visit Mom on her birthday (June 9th - which happens to be Lynda's birthday too) and we stayed a couple of days.

It was great to be with Mom on her birthday and we also got to visit with Mike and Noreen over lunch and Gerry and Dorothy over supper.

Precious family time.

About a week before we drove out, I was shopping on Kijiji for boat stands and came across a pretty good deal. 'Lou' lives in Coburg so we did the deal and told him we'd pick them up on our way through.

Not only was he asking a very reasonable price, but he also drove them out to a carpool area just off the highway to save us driving to his place. Thanks again Lou!

Another thing off the list!

Boat Work:

The 'big' items we're working on are the seatbacks for the main cabin settees. These will 'swing-up' so as to be out of the way when we use the settee as a bunk.

So. . . we first have to install the shelves and related structure from which the seatbacks will hinge.

We picked up some posterboard and made templates at the boat.

Yesterday, using the table saw, we sliced up our last white oak board into 1X2s for framing the shelf.

This morning the weather was absolutely gorgeous so we went out with the boat.

Over at the yacht club's installation at Smith Island, we tied-up just before morning break and enjoyed a coffee aboard.

I fiddled with the fitting of the seatback shelves while Donna watered her tomatoes and sanded some interior trim in the head. I think she's ready to apply the urethane varnish.

Following a picnic lunch and a cup of tea, we headed back to the club and loaded all the shelf-building paraphernalia into the car.

After wine time, I just might do some work on the shelf structures in the garage.

Or not.

Thanks for reading our blog!
